OSX: all geared up!
Okay, this ought to be the last post for a while in my saga of making OSX jump through my hoops.
I’d previously asked for some help getting Quicksilver to do some stuff that I’d previously grown accustomed to having ActiveWords do. Turns out, I don’t really need Quicksilver after all! JV, from starkravingcalm, pointed me at Textpander, which does exactly what I wanted. Now I can just type eml in any textfield and it’s immediately replaced with my email address. The text myname is replaced with my name and smblog is replaced with the URL for this blog. Sweet, just like AW.
Okay, I’m all better now. Carry on.

TypeIt4Me (http://www.typeit4me.com) is another great OS X text expansion tool. I find it especially handy for typing email messages when dealing with eBay auctions. I just hit Reply, type ‘ebmon’, and it expands into a whole email message telling the person I sent their item on Monday, I’ve left feedback, thanks for a pleasant transaction, and I hope we can do business again soon. I’ve also got expansions for things like mailing addresses, bank accounts for eBay deposits, various .sigs I use (depending upon which of my sites is relevant to the message), etc. Talk about a productivity boost!

Peter Maurer’s software is like a secret weapon for all OSX power users.
* Want text macroing ala Emacs / VI in all apps? Textpander.
* Want a clipboard buffer, iTunes hotkeys, and App launcher without getting TOO elaborate [ala Quicksilver]? Then Butler is your app.
* Witch allows moding thru Windows the same way you would Apps via Cmd-Tab.
I don’t use Witch [tried it, some programmer friends do tho’].. however the other two are constantly in my Menu.
