Google maps rock times two
This is what you get when you cross Google maps with Craigslist housing ads (via Jay, via Danah). Geez, what a great idea. I swear, I’m just blown away by how cool Google maps are, and then someone goes and bolts on something like this. I love it.
And just in case you’ve missed it, there’s another thing going on with Google maps over at Flickr. People are making memory maps by getting screenshots of the satellite views of their old neighborhoods, then using the annotation tool to add commentary. I’d love to get my parents, aunts and uncles and last living grandparent to do one of these. What a great way to put some flesh on the bones of those old stories.

You keep blowing me away. I started a rudementary HR blog at hrleaders.blogspot.com over the weekend for my associates here…your feeds, such as Google Maps and Craigslist, generate more ideas than I can comprehend…thanks a bunch.

Pity that Google has only maps for North America, though. No memory maps for us Europeans…

Bren,
Thanks for listing my new site on your Blog. I discovered Google maps the other day but it wasn’t until I read some of your links that I realized some of the cool uses for it. Wow. I have a new idea… with gas prices at $2.75 here in California, how about Virtual Vacations. Just zoom in all the way and follow your favorite roads. Drag and go. No gas pains, no potty stops, no kids acting up in the back seat yelling “are we there yet?”. Just drag and go…

Bren,
I just saw your post before I had posted my own take on this solution. Great minds think alike! Can’t wait to see where the technology takes us!
