As a follow-up to my free Seth Godin Tribes ticket launch giveaway, I thought I’d give you a few more free Seth Godin items, just in case you’re in need of some inspiration.
Free Seth Godin Interview and ebook – I got to interview Seth for his last book Meatball Sundae, and I put together a […]

Free Seth Godin

One lucky Slacker Manager reader will win my ticket to Seth Godin’s Tribes book launch. I got it because I bought 3 copies of Tribes from 800 CEO Read. You could buy 3 copies like me (click on 3 copies of Tribes), or you win my free ticket, because I can’t make it to New […]

iPhone profits

The iPhone launched yesterday and, predictably, it’s already hitting the secondary market. It’s hilarious to scroll through eBay and read some of the listings for iPhones. As I’m writing this, the prices range from $20,999,999.00
downward. Some of the auctions are pure satire, others are pure greed (Buy It Now price of $5,000? Gimme a break.), […]

TwitterLit is genius

Aside from the questionable practice of hooking into another product’s name to promote your own business, TwitterLit (and here) is one of the coolest Twitter uses I’ve seen. Twice a day, this person posts the first line of a book to Twitter, with an affiliate link to the book on Amazon. The site describes it […]

How I increased my LinkedIn connections by 167% in 48 hours

digg_url = \’http://slackermanager.com/2007/05/how-i-increased-my-linkedin-connections-by-167-in-48-hours.html\’;

I was messing around with LinkedIn the other day and ran into a utility they provide for examining your webmail addressbook for other LinkedIn members that you might not have connected with. I pointed the tool at my gmail account and found a bunch of people in my adddressbook that were LinkedIn members […]

LinkedIn a Box

Over at new b5 blog, LinkedIntelligence, Scott Allen is hosting a group blogging project about LinkedIn. The idea is that bloggers write posts about cool, interesting and productive ways in which they’re using LinkedIn. Scott’s got some nice prizes lined up as well. (note: Scott is co-author of an excellent book about online networking which […]

Another chance at MindMeister

If you missed out on getting one of my MindMeister invitations the other day, here’s a second chance. Over at Behind The Glasses, Grigor is giving away 20 more MindMeister invites AND he’s offering interested bloggers a chance to participate in a shared mindmap about the future of blogging. Go forth and mindmap!

Fantastic entrepreneur panel

Here’s a really great video (just about an hour long, so get comfortable) of Guy Kawasaki moderating a panel of unusual entrepreneurs. Panelists include the founders of Suicide Girls, HotOrNot and Fark. It’s a fantastic way to spend an hour–hilarious and informative!

MindMeister is great for mindmapping

This morning I read on Mashable that there’s a new mindmap web app in private beta called MindMeister. I was lucky enough to get an invite and I’ve been messing around with it.
So far I really, really like it. The controls for creating new nodes are very intuitive (tab to create a new child, enter […]

Corporate video blogs

Remember when blogs were so controversial in big companies? Now there are tons of execs blogging and hardly anyone blinks. I think there’s also been a shift in the way people view blogs, particularly those written by corporate types. Personal blogs still feel personal, but corporate blogs….uh….don’t.
I was visiting friends in San Diego last weekend […]

SuperBowl commercials

I don’t know anything about football–I didn’t even know that the Super Bowl was last weekend until someone told me last Friday. But I always like checking out the commercials. Which is kinda weird since I don’t really watch TV much. But whatever. Here’s an embedded player that has 30 of last weekend’s commercials in […]

SplashCast coolness

I’m enroute to Vegas today and will be there all week. Probably not much time for blogging. I thought I’d put this cool new SplashCast player here and just dump more media into it throughout the week. SplashCast is at DEMO today, showing this thing off. I was lucky enough to get an early account.
Keep […]

Latest Haughton seminar (and a little video clip)

I’ve been a fan of Laurence Haughton’s writing and thinking for a while. He’s got a new webcast coming up on January 30, 2007 at 9:00 AM PT / Noon ET. The title is More Buy-In for New Ideas and Innovations: A strategy to overcome resistance to change and improve follow-through. Should be a […]

Tuition on eBay: genius or goofy?

Just saw that Oklahoma Wesleyan University is putting one year’s worth of tuition on eBay. Since I work in Higher Ed, I’m really curious what people think about this.
Personally, I’m not too fond of it and here’s why:

It potentially locks out anyone who can’t write a check for $20,000.
It’s easy to see how to […]

How to be a bad commenter

Business blogs are pretty awesome. The people who write them are always on the lookout for new books and ideas. I’m the same way (yeah, I’m pretty awesome, too). When I read business blogs, I usually read most, if not all, of the comments on a post that interests me.
So I’ve been noticing that […]
