Here’s a really great video (just about an hour long, so get comfortable) of Guy Kawasaki moderating a panel of unusual entrepreneurs. Panelists include the founders of Suicide Girls, HotOrNot and Fark. It’s a fantastic way to spend an hour–hilarious and informative!

This morning I read on Mashable that there’s a new mindmap web app in private beta called MindMeister. I was lucky enough to get an invite and I’ve been messing around with it.
So far I really, really like it. The controls for creating new nodes are very intuitive (tab to create a new child, enter […]

Remember when blogs were so controversial in big companies? Now there are tons of execs blogging and hardly anyone blinks. I think there’s also been a shift in the way people view blogs, particularly those written by corporate types. Personal blogs still feel personal, but corporate blogs….uh….don’t.
I was visiting friends in San Diego last weekend […]

Fellow Portland biz blogger, Skip Angel, has started a new blog: Leaning towards agility. Which is, as I understand it, a blog about how to apply Lean and Agile concepts to more than software development. Should be fun to read. Skip previously blogged at Random Thoughts from a CTO.

I’ve been a fan of Laurence Haughton’s writing and thinking for a while. He’s got a new webcast coming up on January 30, 2007 at 9:00 AM PT / Noon ET. The title is More Buy-In for New Ideas and Innovations: A strategy to overcome resistance to change and improve follow-through. Should be a […]

Really great YouTube clip of Tony Buzan holding forth on the features and benefits of mindmapping. Fascinating stuff from the master himself….
Relatedly, for utter information overload, check out this list of mindmapping tools. Or, check out this relatively recent list of narrowed down options. That second list turned me onto Gliffy, which is best described […]

UPDATE: Here’s mine!
Though I’ve been remiss about pointing it out, hopefully you haven’t missed it. In case you have, here’s your chance to catch up with the rest of us. Rajesh Setty, an entrepreneurial powerhouse who blogs at Life Beyond Code, has taken the bull by the horns and has asked a TON of people […]

Scott Berkun, author of The Art of Project Management (review) is doing some interviews for his next book on how innovation happens. He’s conducting online interviews and, in order to sweeten the deal, is offering a $150 Amazon gift certificate to one lucky interviewee. Not to mention the fact that you may be further interviewed […]

TED stands for Technology Entertainment Design, and it’s an annual conference that’s held in Monterey, California each year. It’s pretty exclusive, and allows only 1,000 people to attend each year. Generally speaking, in order to attend, someone who’s already been must recommend you. I’ve always been fascinated by the lineup of speakers at the conference […]

A few days ago I reviewed Lencioni’s Death by Meeting, which was the first of his books that I’d ever read. I liked it, so I jumped onto this one right afterward.
I liked this one too, but just not quite as much as the other one. In fact, this one felt a little bit like […]

I’m not much of a baseball fan, but this seems really weird to me. It’s an article explaining how a minor league team from the Chicago area is planning to allow fans to manage the team for the entire second half of their season. There are caveats, such as not allowing players to play positions […]

Yesterday I was a panelist for a chat about using “New Media In Admissions.” The chat was pretty wide-ranging, but pretty fun. About 40 people dropped in to participate and it seemed pretty successful, if a little bit schizophrenic. I have a tough time managing my attention when I’m chatting with just three people, let […]

The other day, Jeffrey Phillips from Thinking Faster gave me a guided tour of OVOInnovation’s new web-based stuff for capturing ideas and moving them from concept to product. They actually call the process “Concept to Cash” and it’s pretty descriptive of what they’ve made. They’ve built this really cool system that allows companies to have […]
