One small thing.

I was mowing the lawn and thinking about how much grass I have to mow. I think as managers we often have so much to do that we just keep mowing right through it without full attention.

Here is my “small” challenge to you this summer.

What is the one thing you can really focus on as a manager this summer

that will make the biggest difference?

I would love to read your responses: Please Comment!

I manage around 300 people right now since I work as a temp staffer and recruiter. I’ve made it a point in each training class that I run to keep the number of people between 8 &15 so that I can remember the names of everyone and remember who they are and what’s special about them when they’re out there working in the field. I also tell them that when you talk with a person, you have to use their name. If someone uses your name in a conversation, they’re talking TO you… otherwise, they’re probably just talking.

Right now, I have to focus on hiring the best people I can. Everything else is secondary to rebuilding my team.

    Great question!

Thanks for those “small” things because as I read them they are really quite big in impact!
