Slacker Manager

Questionning Management: A Day in the Life of Bob

by David Zinger on April 8th, 2008

We can learn a lot as managers by asking questions.

Yet sometimes as a manager, you may not want to hear the answer to all your questions. Let’s follow Bob, a manager, around from the time he wakes up in the morning until the time he gets back into bed at night.

question marks

Qestions Bob might not want answered:

  1. Did the alarm not go off?
  2. Where’s my shirt?
  3. Are we really out of coffee?
  4. Is your gas pump broken or is that the actual price to fill my tank?
  5. I know I’m late but you’re not actually telling me I am the first one here?
  6. Did someone send the report last night before leaving?
  7. Has anybody seen Dickson?
  8. Are you telling me after being here for 5 years you really don’t know how to do it?
  9. Do you really make more money than me?
  10. Can I get a raise?
  11. Can I get more staff?
  12. Can I get a staple remover?
  13. The deadline is in 2 hours, will it be done on time?
  14. Are you sure you want me at that meeting?
  15. Do you need any help with that?
  16. Do I look like an idiot?
  17. What’s for lunch?
  18. You’re an atheist, how can you claim it is a religious holiday?
