Happy February everyone! Did you realize that 8.5% of your year is now completed with the arrival of February. The great news is February has 1 extra day to help you achieve more this year than last year.
Let’s check in to see if you’re on track for a GREAT 2008:
- Goals setting meetings for your team complete, or at least scheduled in the next 2 weeks?
- Your personal goals setting meeting between you and your manager completed
- Courses identified and signed up for to sharpen your skills
- Decided who you’ll ask to help you make it great in 2008
If you haven’t done any of this yet, don’t fret. Here’s a little help for you to get started.
- SMARTER Goal Setting example
- If you don’t have anyone who can help you in your company, how about learning on audio from other great successful people who’ve done what you aspire to do?
- American Management Association has some great courses for you to pick from.
- Join the Employee Engagement Network
So what are you waiting for? You know this is going to be your, and your team’s, best year ever. Go set some great goals, find some great people to learn from, and you will create a great year!

I’ve liked — but not loved — using the SMART method to establish goals. Pulling the SMARTER method — how could I have missed the post, Phil?? — is really a great improvement.
Make goals Exciting and Record them. Goals, without excitement, just don’t cut it. That’s what was missing.

lazymale - I’ll have to check out your post. Thanks for the link!
Scot - I liked SMART too, but I’ve found SMARTER is better! MUCH better. Exciting stuff gets done in my world. Boring stuff…not so much!
