Today I am honored to share Mike Myatt of N2 Growth with you. In addition to being a fantastic blogger, and a super nice guy, Mike is also the author of the the newly released book Leadership Matters The CEO Survival Manual: What it takes to reach the C-Suite and Stay There. I read through an early copy of the book last week, and found it chock full of insights you can use to climb from manager to CEO.
Let’s Take 5 with Mike Myatt
1) Who is Mike Myatt and what qualifies you to write this book?
Mike: I’ve been a CEO in four of my own ventures, held the position of CEO in the corporate world and have mentored CEOs as a professional advisor. In addition to my current operating duties as Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer at N2growth, I maintain a personal practice which consists of advising CEOs. This gives me a unique perspective on the traits it takes to succeed as a chief executive.
2) Please share the best advice you share in the book.
Mike: While the book is full of actionable advice that CEOs can apply on a daily basis, it is some of the more contrarian opinions that tend to dispel B-school academic theory that readers will find most useful. My thoughts on why many things commonly accepted as business truths are in fact business myths that can lead even the most savvy CEO astray make for particularly good reading.
3) What’s the best blog (other than of course http://SlackerManager.com) that leaders must read?
The Extreme Leadership blog by Steve Farber is definitely worth reading…
4) What’s the best book, other than yours, for new leaders?
Mike: Servant Leadership by Robert Greenleaf is a classic that will serve all leaders well. The essence of leadership has nothing to do with self-promotion, but rather with placing the interests of those you lead before you own.

Mike: The best place is likely by reading my bio or the N2growth blog which I author.
