Here are the selection of winning posts from last week.
Get your pictures moving. Ed Brenegar hit a grand slam for me last week. He loaded the bases with a link and recommendation to Animoto. This is a wonderful and easy site to take your photos and create a video with music in a matter of minutes.
Let’s talk. Mr. Brenegar’s home run was a wonderful and detailed post on Conversation as an Interactive Technology. I have already read this post twice and plan to read it a few more times. The primary focus is on conversation and strategic planning but I think all managers can learn some valuable perspectives on conversation and management in this article. Here are a few of the article tidbits: conversations are about talking, not announcing. They’re about listening, not surveying. They’re about paying attention, not getting attention…consensus is a good tool and a bad goal…planning is a handle that puts control of the organization into the hands of the people who create the future…People will talk. they will talk freely if you let them. Or, they’ll talk in the shadows, but talk they will.
Much ado about nothing. Bill Gammell writes about marketing and often uses Seinfeld as a lens to look at marketing. I believe managers can learn a lot from marketing principles and now you can learn 7 marketing lessons from the cast of “the show about nothing” Click here to go Bill’s blog and I highly recommend his post an on Seinfeld on marketing ebook post. The free 14 page ebook is a gem in design and insight. I appreciated his introduction where he admits his Seinfeld addiction or curse: I have decided to use my Seinfeld powers for the good of marketing-kind. Maybe this will help to quite the voices in my head (doubtful, but one can hope). Bill transforms the old belief of do what you love and the money will follow into to do what you love and, Jerry may appear…at least in an ebook!

And not only is that article outstanding his whole series outlining hostmanship was also a gem. Of course your writing at the Tune up your EQ blog is quite outstanding also!
