Decision issue of HBR

by Bren on January 6th, 2006

The latest edition of the Harvard Business Review is dedicated to decision making, and it’s definitely an issue worth buying. It’s got articles from some of my favorite business writers, including Ram Charan and Tom Davenport.

The article I like best so far is a reprint of an earlier article by John Hammond, Howard Raiffa and Ralph Keeney called The Hidden Traps of Decision Making. These three guys wrote one of my two most recommended books on decision making, Smart Choices, and this article is kinda like an excerpt of the book. Good stuff.

What is the title of the other book that you would recommend on making decisions?

The other book I really like is The Thinker’s Toolkit. It’s written by a former CIA analyst and has a whole bunch of techniques for breaking down and analyzing decision problems. Highly recommended.

Thanks Bren for the follow up. Keep up the good fight for the rest of us “slacker managers”. :)
