A couple quickies

by Bren on May 21st, 2005

Yeah, I know I said I wasn’t going to be posting for a while, but this evening I was killing time cruising through the feed reader and ran across a couple of posts worth pointing out.

First, over at Genuine Curiosity, Dwayne riffs on the last Apprentice episode where Trump apparently hassled the eventual winner about crying in the boardroom. Dwayne asks what kind of emotions are "approved" at your workplace? It’s a good question…at my office, we stick with rage and despair (kidding). Actually, nothing seems out of bounds at my office–with the possible exception of unbridled rage. And, being a university financial aid office, we even see that once in a while.

Next, over at You Already Know This Stuff, Jodee revisits simplicity and complexity. She asks whether it must always be tragedy or crisis that causes us to realign our values with our lives.

Okay, I’m leaving now.

Trump asked Kendra why she was crying and then said it was OK. He asked Tana why she only completed 3 years of college and then said it was OK. Neither was OK with The Donald. Trump does not want a wimp or a quitter. But, he had to take one and the younger crier had more potential, more smarts and more polish than the older, lesser-educated mother.
