Meetup with Buzz

Buzz came to town today for a quick demo/training sesh with some folks at the university. It was great to finally meet him in person and equally great to be able to have lunch with Skip, Dwayne and Matt.

The presentation piece got off to a bit of a rough start. The room I’d reserved was full of college kids eating lunch. What the…? I called the room scheduling staff and they were basically clueless, which was disappointing. So I commandeered a classroom and we eventually were able to get Buzz up and running. His laptop was a bit slow, so I think that was a little bit frustrating for him, but the audience didn’t seem to notice. I thought there was a pretty good response to the presentation–Buzz showed off a whole lot of the ActiveWords goodness. Greg, our CTO, was present and he seemed to really be digging it too.

I’d originally set up the training for the folks in my office. Unfortunately, while I was out at my leisurely lunch, they got slammed with students who’d waited until the last minute to firm up finances before leaving for the summer. As a result, only three of the twelve or so folks who were planning on coming were able to make it. Kind of a bummer, but we’ll just train the rest of ‘em. ActiveWords is really making a pretty good splash in my office. We purchased several licenses and I’m pretty sure most are being utilized, though to varying degrees of effectiveness. Also, we haven’t yet rolled out the ’shared wordbase’, but when we do I think it’ll bring some pretty big gains in productivity.
