Slacker Manager

More customer service goodness

by Bren on January 21st, 2005

I’ve been remiss.  Yesterday I didn’t mention Terry Storch’s great outline of how customer service is managed at a huge church.  He described his workplace as not a huge church, but rather a small town…and he’s pretty much right.  Meeting the needs of 18,000 people each week is pretty daunting.  And not just spiritual needs either–churches do a tremendous amount of social work, both inside and outside their own congregations.  Definitely worth reading…

And before I forget, be sure to check in on the Rothacker’s daily double.  Dave and Rosemary have both done great posts…

Dave-the-Wiz wrote a neat metaphorical twist on customer service with a full cast of a princess, various demons, knights and lots of good fighting tools.

And Rosemary’s post…oh, man.  Don’t go near it unless you have a box of tissues nearby.  What a remarkable story about true service.  Not just customer service, but true selfless service to others.  Don’t miss Rosemary’s post–in fact, you’ll probably want to note the permanent address so you can send it around to folks.

Thanks for the kind words Bren! To this day, Rosemary cannot talk about Jim without big ole tears welling up and streaming down her face. What is so special about Rosemary (can’t help but to brag) is that she inspires this sort of above and beyond customer service attitude within her staff. The customers love them too, her bank handles more transactions than any of the other fifty or so branches in her company!

Best wishes with your growing family and new son!!

Many thanks Bren for your wonderful words. I’ve been wanting to share Jim’s story for years- he certainly deserves the recognition.

Congratulations on the adoption of your little boy- I’m sure he’s adorable. It’s inspiring to see such selfless love!!
